August 17 Latest MSN bike article by yours trulyHere's the review and write up of my trip to the Orkneys on BMW's brilliant new R1200S
August 01 In love with an ItalianThere are not that many personal objects I really covet. Maybe my Arcam hi-fi, or my two Canon L lenses maybe, but nothing like stirs the emotions like my Aprilia RSV 1000 Mille. It really is quite sad that a grown man can feel this way, but of all the bikes I've ridden this year, and there have been many exotic machines, i'ts my own Italian thumping v-twin that really gets my blood pumping. I adore the way it looks, its swooping lines, matt black paint with the Dan Dare red lighting flashes and the twin after burner red tail lights. And nothing sounds like an Italian v-twin, the Aprilia even with it's road legal can is the loudest bike I've ever owned. Like all things Italian, it is not without it's flaws - the rubbish electrics, the shite stumpy side stand, and upside down switch gear to name but three from quite a long list. But all is forgiven when I'm riding this baby and nailing a corner - the handling and motor are superb. An utterly charismatic machine that only the Italians could make. I've been without her for two weeks and I'm itching to take her out and have some fun. |
