September 22 New Photos AddedI just got my colour films back, and uploaded some new ones from my trip. Click on the headings to check 'em out:
September 06 Nice for the English summer to wait until I got back...apart from the first few days it's been sunny everyday since I got back :-)
Hoping it holds for the weekend, seeing my mate Matt for a weekend in Cornwall and taking my Aprilia for a good long run September 03 2007 - the last great year for Joy Division fansApart from the sad death of Anthony Wilson, 2007 will be a landmark year for Joy Division fans, and one of the most famous stories in UK rock music will come to some sort of natural conclusion.
Next week the three original Joy Division albums are re-leased in re-mastered form with vastly improved sound quality. Good for those of us who still like to listen to music on decent hi-fi, as well as MP3
Then next month comes the much anticipated feature release "Control" by director Anton Corjbin, centred around Ian Curtis's life. Most fans are breathing a sigh of relief (because the legend remains intact) and are itching to see it - not only has the film received rave reviews at its debut, but it's now won a host of plaudits from UK critics at press showings.
A second major film, a documentary "Joy Divison" will get a theatrical release later in the year. Written by Jon Savage (who wrote the excellent history of punk, Englands Dreaming, a great read if you're into music) it will be the most definitive collection of interviews and will bring together all of the (limited) available footage of the band. This will be the third major movie release (including 24 Hour Party People), and probably the last.
With New Order splitting up, and with all viable Joy Division audio and visual material released, the story is over. Some of the mystery and enigma around the band may have gone, but we're left with the beauty and legacy of the music.

Music Guardian article from last week, the band speak about Ian Curtis and Control September 01 Mi AmorI'm nervous, we haven't seen each other for a long time, and my heart is pounding as I walk up the drive to her home. Will the magic still be there, or will I be greeted with frosty silence? Will she remember the good times we've had?
I reach forward, and it's like we've never been apart. I hold her close to me and my hands instinctively fall into place. Praying that she will respond to me, I touch the red start button. 1000cc of V Twin power stir to life with a deep snarling rumble. I slip her into gear, and together we ride out into the late summer greeness of the English countryside.
to be continued..
